NRG sponsor cross country bike race/ride
Following the success of the bike race at the 2008 Sarau Festival, another great mountain bike race/ride will start and finish at the Sarau Festival venue. NRG have put their hands up as sponsors of the race/ride, providing drinks for all riders. Local farmers have come in behind this festival and agreed to open their gates for us. The ride crosses diverse Moutere farmland, traverses orchards, hop gardens, fields of blackcurrants and boysenberries, vineyards and even passes by olive groves and protected native bush areas. What a fantastic opportunity to bike in areas normally not available to the public.

Unique trophies have been specially crafted by Moutere wood artisan Johannes Ruebsam from the Art of Wood. The trophies are made of Matai timber recycled from one of the first buildings in the Moutere, with a walnut base to show the connection to the area’s German heritage. The trophies represent the Moutere Hills with fancy bike wheels on the tops.
