Hot Festival News
The competitions always looked to be fun with all of you entering your favourite blackcurrant jam, blackcurrant cake or dessert, or if neither of these sound like you, then bringing along your wine or juice for judging. Please have your entries in by 4.45pm for judging at 5pm.
The hot news is that the competitions will be judged by:
Anne Morton – Cuisine Advisor and TV 1 chef,
Judy or Tim Finn of Neudorf Winery – our own local celebrities, and
Heather Spence – Food Management NZ Ltd
and Mayor Richard Kempthorne will be there to help present the gift baskets.
Enter into the fun and help the festival fly by bringing along your creations, or just good old fashioned cooking! Don’t forget that there are fabulous gift baskets for the winners, and a prize for every entry by those under 18 years old.
If you bring a recipe with you (or email it to us later), it will be included into the blackcurrant recipe book we will put together for the 2009 festival. Your chance to increase the awareness of the exciting ways to use blackcurrants. Play around and come up with an innovative recipe for the competitions. If that sounds too scary, go to the recipe tab above and adapt one of the recipes we have put up there. Fun huh?!
Next year’s recipe book will also include the recipes shown by Angela and Bill in their cooking demonstrations. Make sure you catch these opportunities to watch celebrity chefs at work at the festival. Bill (Blokes ‘n’ Barbies) is on at 4.30pm and Angela’s master class in the Community Centre at 5.30pm. Don’t miss out!
