Festival Music
We’re delighted to confirm the music lineup for this years Sarau Festival.
Trudi Wilson and Jasper
Trudi Wilson – Well known local, Trudi describes her sound as a cross between New Zealand singers Brooke Fraser and Holly Smith. Trudi Wilson and Jasper will appear as a seven piece band as our headline act.
Jackson and Kendrick – Voila
Our opening act are a duo of two amazing musicians: Zoe Jackson, third performance at Sarau, and Richard Kendrick. Richard plays bass, guitar and vocals with Zoe on keyboard, guitar and vocals. A real mixture of bluesy, soulful sounds and quite different versions of popular songs, with their own stamp.
Ceol River
Ceol River are a lively easy listening 3 piece band with drums, guitar, violin and vocals playing lots of familiar tunes that people know and love. Gabor on the drums, Geoff Snowsill on guitar and lead vocals and Megan Barber on violin and vocals.
Ella Doty
Ella Doty is a 16 year old Singer/Guitarist from Upper Moutere. Ella is open to all styles of music, from pop to rock but likes to make things her own by changing up the original song. She has been heavily involved with the arts since a very young age and has always loved being up on stage. She started playing guitar when she was 10 and still continues to learn. Ella’s setlist this year contains songs that appeal to more of a ‘younger audience’ but can be embraced by other audiences easily.
Raijin Taiko Drummers
We’re delighted to welcome back Nelson’s very own Taiko Drummers to share their traditional Japanese art form. Performed with high energy and carefully choreographed movements, Raijin Taiko are always crowd-stoppers at Sarau Festival. A unique and original show that will totally immerse you in pulsing rhythms and booming sounds of the taiko drums.
