Sarau Festival 2011 - Sunday, January 30th, 2011 from 4pm! Be there!
]]>The route is a loop, with a 7 or 11km option and finishes at the festival site. Cyclists will travel along quiet sealed roads, farm tracks & mown paddocks, passing through vineyards, raspberry & blackcurrant fields, hop gardens & open fields. There are some rolling hills on the road section at the beginning and the remainder is flat. This year we even have a MAP to show you this amazing ride.
Children are welcome as long as they are reasonably experienced riders. This is not recommended for children under the age of 8, and of course all children participating must be accompanied by an adult.

]]>This marquee is always one of the favourites at the Sarau Festival so make sure you allow time to browse, and if you cannot make it to the Festival remember that the historic Moutere Inn has lots of old photos and documents on display.
The valley was also developed by early English settlers and an article about the fabulously restored Somerset Cottage can be found here.
Alongside the history panels and the family records will be books for sale (at a special festival price) tracing the important history of this valley:
“The Road to Sarau – From Germany to Upper Moutere” by Jenny Briars and Jenny Leith
“A Versatile Community – The History of the Settlers of Central Moutere” by George McMurtry
“The Extended Community” – by George McMurtry

Please get in touch if you have some books for our stall. You can call Sharon Beuke on 03 5432814. You can also email Sharon on s.beuke [at] gmail [dot] com
