BIY – Brew it yourself!
We welcome League of Brewers to Sarau Festival this year – their first time at the Festival.
It will be a first for us too, as Mike Stringer of League of Brewers will be doing a couple of ‘Brew your own’ demonstrations.
Mike says:
“We have done a number of events now where we do a live brewing demo, so that people who are interested can see how you can make beer at home from basic ingredients (barley and hops) without using the instant kits you can find in the supermarket”
There will be a demonstration of “all grain brewing” – using real basic ingredients (malted barley, hops, water, and yeast). This will take about 4 hours from start to finish, and a beginner’s method called “partial extract brewing” which Mike will do at the same time.
Mike points out that Brewing beer involves a fair bit of waiting. He’ll happily show anyone interested where the brews are up to, how the process works, answer any questions, etc.

Demos will run from approximately 3.30pm to 7pm.
